Fitbodies is a wonderful organization created in 1992 to combine travel with teaching. They have partnerships with resorts in the Caribbean, Central America, Jamaica, Fiji & Mexico and more!
What to expect on a typical teaching vacation?
- Most teaching vacations are 8 days, usually six days of teaching two classes and two days for travel (arrive the day before and leave the day after your last day of teaching).
- The schedule and workload vary depending on the resort and may change upon arrival. Since this is a type of work exchange fitness professionals pay a discounted fee to Fitbodies/the resort (it varies but is a BIG discount) This includes: your fees, room, all-inclusive food/alcohol & room service for you and a guest!
- All the details, payments and issues are through FitBodies. From my first experience I found them to be very supportive and responsive.
What's NOT included in the fees?
- Airfare
- Travel Insurance
- Airport Transfers (you can schedule it through Fitbodies!)
How to participate in the program?

You can create a free trial account however that access is limited. I recommend opting in for the basic annual membership of $19. This way you can see more of the travel options. Note, this level only allows you to BOOK within the next 4 weeks. Should you decide to book more in advance then you will have to upgrade (which can be done later if you need). - Setup your profile. (If you are not booking anytime soon there is no rush in creating your profile but it is best to have it all in order so it's ready when you are! You will have to submit it for approval). For the profile you will need:
- An updated resume handy to be able to copy the information into their text fields
- Copies of all fitness certifications to upload
- Recent instructor picture for your profile
- A short intro for your profile
- Two references (name, email & phone number)
- Submit profile for approval (you will be notified via email when it is approved).
- Submit dates and trip request. You will then be notified if approved and can then book plane tickets.
- Join the Facebook Group: When researching/planning for a trip there is a wonderful community/group on facebook dedicated to instructors that are interested or have already traveled with the company. It's a great resource to see the feedback from other experiences. Join it here
